1. What CostPatch is (and isn't)

CostPatch is an informational publication covering home services pricing in the United States. We publish cost estimates, decision frameworks, and methodology guides. We are:

NOT a contractor, installer, or service provider
NOT a licensed engineer, architect, or building inspector
NOT a lawyer, financial advisor, or insurance broker
NOT able to guarantee any specific quote you receive from any specific contractor

Our content is research-based and informational. It should not be substituted for a licensed professional's diagnosis, contract review, or jurisdiction-specific code compliance work.

2. Pricing disclaimer

Pricing figures published on CostPatch are estimates derived from public data sources and aggregated industry pricing. They do NOT represent:

A binding price you will be quoted
A guaranteed range for any specific job in any specific market
Professional advice on whether to accept or reject a contractor quote

Actual contractor quotes vary by location, project scope, materials, contractor business model, season, and dozens of other factors not captured in our state-level data. Always get 2–3 independent quotes from licensed contractors before making purchase decisions.

3. No professional advice

Information on CostPatch is for general informational purposes only. Specifically:

Foundation, structural, and engineering content — get a licensed structural engineer's assessment before signing repair contracts over $5,000. Our content does not substitute for engineering review.
Insurance and warranty content — get a licensed insurance broker's review for claim filings. Our content does not substitute for insurance professional advice.
Permit and code compliance content — building codes are local. Our content references general standards (IRC, IBC) but does NOT substitute for your municipality's specific requirements.
Tax credit content — get a licensed tax professional's review before claiming any credit. We summarize federal program rules but cannot evaluate your specific tax situation.

5. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, H19 RESEARCH GROUP LLC AND ITS OPERATORS DISCLAIM LIABILITY FOR:

Decisions you make based on information published on CostPatch
Quotes you receive from contractors referred through our affiliate networks
Workmanship issues with contractors located through our affiliate networks
Material costs that diverge from our published estimates
Errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in our pricing data

IN NO EVENT WILL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF COSTPATCH EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100.00).

6. Intellectual property

Read and share articles via standard browsers and social media share buttons
Cite our data with attribution: "Source: CostPatch.com" plus link to the cited page
Embed our calculators via official embed snippets (when we publish them in future)

You may NOT:

Republish full articles without written permission
Scrape pricing data systematically for commercial use
Train AI models on our content without explicit permission
Remove attribution or copyright notices from any reused content

7. Prohibited uses

You agree NOT to:

Use CostPatch to defraud or deceive anyone
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
Scrape or extract data via automated tools without our written permission
Submit false contractor quotes or sham lead-gen requests
Use CostPatch content in any way that violates applicable law

8. Third-party links

CostPatch links to third-party websites (lead-gen platforms, government data sources, industry publications). We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices.

9. Changes to terms

We may update these terms periodically. Material changes will be flagged with a banner on the homepage for 30 days. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of CostPatch will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Wyoming.
